Kellie M. Griggs is a passionate trailblazer who has made significant contributions to maternal health nursing, encompassing policy changes and national advocacy for underrepresented minority and marginalized birthing individuals. She has raised awareness and provided education for vulnerable maternal populations, holding leadership roles across national nursing associations, academia, and healthcare systems. Her efforts prioritize safe and equitable maternal care through nurse-led models, which have helped shape policy initiatives and develop legislative priorities, fostering transformations on regional and national levels. Dr. Griggs has played a pivotal role in developing national position statements on human trafficking, intimate partner violence, and preterm labor that have influenced policies ranging from the local to federal level, promoting safe and equitable care. Her body of work has been disseminated on a national and international level through peer-reviewed publications, position statements, monograph SBARS, podium presentations, grants, and educational workshops. Her dedication to the profession and those she serves reflects a belief in advocacy and policy initiatives driving systematic change to advance maternal health nationally. Dr. Griggs received her DNP in Leadership and Education, MSN in Nurse Education, and BSN from Gardner-Webb University, and her ADN from Forsyth Technical Community College.
