Jennifer O’Rourke is an Associate Professor and Associate Dean of Academic Affairs at Loyola University Chicago, Parkinson School of Health Sciences and Public Health. As a national leader in developing and testing strategies to improve nursing education and practice using simulation-based pedagogy, Dr. O’Rourke has partnered with national and international organizations to generate simulation knowledge and standards through curriculum development, course facilitation and outcome evaluation. During the COVID-19 pandemic she led the creation of a telehealth toolkit and telehealth competencies for advanced practice nursing, a project funded through Health Research Services Administration. She has been a member of the National Organization of Nurse Practitioner Faculties simulation committee for 4 years; served as chair of the Formal Affinity Simulation Training Group for the Society of Simulation in Healthcare (SSH) and is on the advisory board for the Nursing Education Perspectives journal, among others. Dr. O’Rourke previously held leadership roles as Associate Dean of Graduate Programs at Loyola University Chicago School of Nursing and as Director of Simulation for the University of Illinois-Chicago. Dr. O’Rourke holds a PhD and MS from the University of Illinois-Chicago, and a BSN from Villanova University.
