An experienced neuroscience nurse, Jane R. von Gaudecker is a global health epilepsy nurse scientist dedicated to improving access to epilepsy care in resource-limited settings. She is a certified global nurse consultant for global health and research through the International Council for Nurses and a Fellow of the American Epilepsy Society. Her research focuses on bringing epilepsy care closer to home, thus addressing social health determinants among vulnerable populations in western Kenya. It has a multidisciplinary impact and is cited by nursing, medicine, and sociology. Through her leadership roles with the Academic Model Providing Access to Healthcare and the International League Against Epilepsy, she contributes significantly to improving nursing outcomes. Among her key initiatives are establishing a nursing mentorship program between Kenya and the U.S., creating a neuro-nurse training program for Kenyan nurses, organizing a global nursing conference, and helping develop an evidence-based epilepsy nursing curriculum that can be used globally. She serves on the editorial board of the Journal of Neuroscience Nursing, the official journal of the American Association of Neuroscience Nursing. Dr. von Gaudecker received her BSN from the Christian Medical College and Hospital in India, her MSN and PhD from the University of Virginia, and her Postdoctoral Fellowship from Indiana University School of Nursing.
