Jane L. Phillips is a palliative care nursing scholar and current Head of the School of Nursing at Queensland University of Technology. There, she leads 150 academics and is responsible for educating more than 3000 bachelor's and 300 postgraduate nursing students, 250 nurse practitioners, and 100 higher-degree research students. Dr. Phillips was the inaugural Director of IMPACCT (Improving Palliative, Aged and Chronic Care through Clinical Research and Translation) at the University of Technology Sydney, where she established and led a transdisciplinary team of palliative, aged, and chronic care clinical-academic researchers. She was instrumental in establishing the IMPACCT Consumer Group to ensure the Centre’s research addressed patients’ and their families' unmet needs. She is a fellow of the Australian College of Nursing and Palliative Care Nurses Australia and an inductee of the Sigma Theta Tau International Nurse Researcher Hall of Fame. She is also an Emeritus Professor with the Faculty of Health at the University of Technology Sydney and holds numerous honorary roles with various cancer and palliative care organisations. Dr. Phillips holds a PhD from Western Sydney University, Sydney, Australia, a Post-Graduate Diploma in Health Promotion, and a Bachelor of Applied Science (Nursing) from Curtin University, Perth, Western Australia.
