Hui-Hsun Chiang

PhD, RN
Professor
National Defense Medical Center

Hui-Hsun Chiang is a Professor at the National Defense Medical Center and a Nurse Scientist at Tri-Service General Hospital. Dr. Chiang’s research focuses on innovative physiological and emotional interventions to enhance care for traumatic brain injury (TBI) patients, improve disaster education and management, and support the recovery of trauma patients, both physically and mentally. She has led multiple interdisciplinary and government-funded studies, including those supported by NSTC and DoD, resulting in protocols now utilized by students, nurses, military personnel, and patients. Her latest NSTC-funded study indicated that theory-based remote nursing interventions can significantly improve the physical and psychological health of TBI patients, promoting long-term positive health outcomes. Additionally, she co-developed a mass casualty incident (MCI) first-aid kit and management model, which proved effective during the color-dust explosion incident. Dr. Chiang’s impactful research is widely cited in nursing, psychology, and healthcare journals. Her work on remote walking exercises has established it as a key intervention for enhancing physio-psychological well-being among TBI patients. She serves on the Editorial Board of the Journal of Medical Sciences. Dr. Chiang holds a BSN and MS from the National Defense Medical Center’s School of Nursing and a PhD from the National Taiwan Normal University’s Department of Health Education and Health Promotion.
