Helen Caton-Peters

Helen Caton-Peters is a Senior Technical Officer for Digital Health at the World Health Organization Europe Region Office in Copenhagen, Denmark. She provides technical and policy guidance to Ministries of Health in 53 countries to leverage data and digital technologies to achieve national public and population health goals. She leads intergovernmental multi-stakeholder collaborations with UN agencies, NGOs, industry, and civil society to support transformation of health systems and services in Europe to improve universal health coverage, protect people in health emergencies and promote equity, health, and well-being. She previously held senior policy roles at the Office of the National Coordinator for Health Information Technology in the US Department of Health and Human Services where she formulated national health IT policy, and led initiatives on privacy, quality, and interoperability. She served for 6 years in Germany as the Deputy Chief Health Information Officer for the US Army Medical Command where she managed informatics teams across a geographically diverse environment ensuring interoperability of clinical information across borders. Ms. Caton-Peters received a Master of Nursing Science degree from the Medical University of South Carolina and a Bachelor of Nursing Science Degree from SUNY Binghamton University.
