Gregory Raymond is the Vice President of Nursing and Patient Care Services for Emergency Services, Oncology, Medicine, Cardiology and Psychiatry at the University of Maryland Medical Center (UMMC). In this role, Dr. Raymond is responsible for the strategic planning, operational management, quality of care/service delivery, and outcomes for these areas. Prior to his role as Vice President, Dr. Raymond served as a Director of Nursing and Patient Care Services for Neuroscience, Psychiatry, and Clinical Practice and Professional Development. He started his leadership career as the Nurse Manager for the Surgical Intensive Care Unit at UMMC. During the COVID pandemic, Dr. Raymond served as the Chief Nursing Officer for the Baltimore Convention Center Field Hospital. Dr. Raymond served Maryland as an appointed board member of the Maryland State Board of Nursing for two terms, and held the office of Board Secretary. He holds a Faculty Associate appointment at the University of Maryland School of Nursing in the Department of Organizational Systems and Adult Health. Dr. Raymond has also served as Co-Chair for UMNursing, the Academic-Practice Partnership between the University of Maryland Medical Center and University of Maryland School of Nursing. Dr. Raymond’s academic preparation includes a Doctorate in Nursing Practice from the University of Maryland School of Nursing, a MS in Leadership and Management from the University of Maryland Baltimore School of Nursing (UMSON) where he also obtained his BSN, and an MBA from the University of Baltimore Merrick School of Business. He is board certified as a Nurse Executive-Advanced (NEA-BC) from the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC), he holds certificates for Teaching in Nursing and Health Care Professions from UMSON, and Nursing Leadership from The University of Pennsylvania’s Wharton School of Business. Dr. Raymond is a member of the nursing honors society Sigma Theta Tau and a lifetime member of international business honor society Beta Gamma Sigma. He holds professional memberships in the American Nurses Association, the American Organization of Nurse Leaders and Maryland Organization of Nurse Leaders.
