Glenna S. Brewster is an Assistant Professor at the Nell Hodgson Woodruff School of Nursing at Emory University. Dr. Brewster’s interdisciplinary and translational research focuses on mitigating sleep disruption experienced by caregivers and persons living with cognitive impairment. She led the testing of a scalable, dyad-based videoconferencing behavioral intervention which demonstrated acceptability and efficacy in reducing insomnia symptoms. Her impact extends to the Caribbean, where she expanded dementia education initiatives. She secured funding to implement the Savvy Caregiver intervention in Jamaica. As a founder of the St. Vincent and the Grenadines (SVG) Alzheimer’s Disease and Dementia Association, she designed and conducted caregiver training and awareness sessions in SVG, reaching both family and formal caregivers. Her presentations and interviews on sleep and dementia have reached audiences in over 30 countries. Dr. Brewster serves on the editorial board of Gerontology and Geriatric Medicine. Currently, she is the President of the Board of Directors for the National Hartford Center of Gerontological Nursing Excellence and a board member for the Southern Gerontological Society. She earned her A.S. in Nursing from Broward College, and her BSN, MSN, MA in Gerontology, and PhD in Nursing Science from the University of South Florida.
