Franz A. Vergara is Senior Director of Nursing Operations and Patient Care Services at MedStar Harbor Hospital in Baltimore, Maryland. Dr. Vergara held various leadership positions, including Assistant Chief Nursing Officer at HCA Florida Healthcare, Director of Clinical Operations at Inova Mount Vernon Hospital, and Orthopaedic Nurse Manager at WellStar Cobb Hospital. He also served in various clinical, administrative, and leadership roles at the Johns Hopkins Health System. While in the Mid Atlantic region, Dr. Vergara pioneered a telephonic case management program serving thousands of marginalized patients. Dr. Vergara is also an Editorial Board Member for the Professional Case Management Journal and the Education Chair for the Philippine Nurses Association of America Metropolitan D.C. Dr. Vergara has been involved with the National Association of Orthopaedic Nurses for 17 years, and he served as a national Director on the Executive Board for three years. Dr. Vergara holds a dual doctorate of PhD/DNP from the Goldfarb School of Nursing at Barnes Jewish College, a Master of Applied Science from the Bloomberg School of Public Health at the Johns Hopkins University, and a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of Santo Tomas.
