Elizabeth (Liz) A. Aquino is the Associate Dean for Academic Affairs at the University of Illinois Chicago, College of Nursing. As a prominent voice in nursing, Dr. Aquino serves on local and national boards, advocating for health equity and advancing the nursing profession. She has served as President of the American Nurses Association-Illinois, driving key policy and advocacy initiatives. To ensure nurse representation in policymaking, Dr. Aquino founded the Nurses Running for Elected Office Training Academy. This initiative aims to inspire, train, and support nurses to run for elected positions. Her efforts have successfully led to more nurses pursuing roles in governance. As a strong champion for diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives, Dr. Aquino has been a subject matter expert for the ANA Commission to Address Racism in Nursing and other leading organizations, advising on equitable access to resources and opportunities. Additionally, Dr. Aquino co-founded the Society of Latinx Nurses, which is dedicated to supporting and mentoring Latinx professionals in nursing. Her leadership and service have earned her numerous local and national recognitions and awards. Dr. Aquino earned her MSN from DePaul University, School of Nursing, and PhD from the University of Illinois Chicago, College of Nursing.
