Devon Noonan is a nurse scientist, certified addictions nurse and an Associate Professor of Nursing at Duke University School of Nursing (DUSON). Her research broadly focuses on understanding the intersection of prevention science, rural public health and advocacy to improve health and prevent disease in rural communities. Her research impact has been in developing and evaluating health promotion and disease prevention programs using community engaged research approaches. She has served as the PI for multiple federally funded clinical trials over the past 10 years to develop and test disease prevention interventions in partnership with rural communities. Dr. Noonan has a longstanding academic health department collaboration with Granville Vance Public Health in North Carolina, where she is a researcher in residence (https://www.gvph.org/about/ahd/) and is the PI of a training grant that integrates rural public health in postdoctoral education for nurses and physicians. She has sits on the board of the Green Rural Redevelopment Group and the International Nurses Society on Addictions. Dr. Noonan teaches and mentors students across all programs at DUSON and is the Co-Director of the Duke National Clinician Scholars Program.
