Denise E. Bryant-Lukosius is a Professor and Alba DiCenso Chair in Advanced Practice Nursing in the School of Nursing at McMaster University. As an experienced oncology nurse and health services/policy researcher, Dr. Bryant-Lukosius has two streams of research related to cancer care and advanced practice nursing (APN). She has several leadership roles at McMaster University including Co-Director, Canadian Centre for APN Research and Deputy Director, PAHO/WHO Collaborating Centre in Primary Care Nursing/Health Human Resources. For 23 years, Dr. Bryant-Lukosius has been cross-appointed as a Clinician Scientist with a nursing research unit at the Juravinski Hospital and Cancer Centre. She has received several national awards of excellence recognizing her contributions to oncology nursing practice, education, and research. Her program of APN-related research focuses on role optimization and the design and evaluation of innovative models of care. Nationally and internationally, she has conducted research about Clinical Nurse Specialists and Nurse Practitioners in varied settings, led the development of APN curricula and mentorship programs, and designed frameworks and knowledge translation tools for the introduction and evaluation of APN roles. Dr. Bryant-Lukosius received a BScN and PhD in Nursing from McMaster University and an MSc in Community Health Nursing and Education from D'Youville College.
