Airica D. Steed is the CEO & President of Breakthrough Innovation Partners LLC. She is the former President and Chief Executive Officer at MetroHealth, one of the nation’s most highly regarded academic public health systems, caring for the people of Greater Cleveland since 1837, where she was the first woman, first nurse, and first person of color to serve in that role. Under her leadership, MetroHealth grew into a $2 billion enterprise with five acute and specialty-care hospitals, almost 9,000 employees and over 40 ambulatory-care locations, providing care throughout the community, including at the county jail and inside dozens of schools with its nationally recognized School Health Program. As a fourth-generation nurse, Dr. Steed is relentless in her advocacy and action to eradicate health disparities, zero out the death gap, and lift the health and wealth of the community. She is also a Clinical Professor at Case Western Reserve University’s Frances Payne Bolton School of Nursing. Dr. Steed also previously held leadership roles as System Chief Operating Officer/Executive Vice President at Sinai Health System in Chicago, President of Mount Sinai & Sinai Children’s Hospital, and Senior Vice President of Operations at Presence Health. Dr. Steed holds an EdD from Olivet Nazarene University, an MBA from Governors State University and a BSN from Rush University.
