Adrianna Nava is an Applied Research Scientist at the National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA) and the immediate Past President of the National Association of Hispanic Nurses (NAHN). At NCQA, Dr. Nava leads the development of social determinants of health (SDOH) measures for HEDIS ©, a national quality improvement tool, which reaches over 227 million covered lives. At NAHN, Dr. Nava advocates for improved Latino Health outcomes through the advancement of nurses in leadership, research, and policy through NAHN’s more than 2,600 members within 23 states. Under her leadership, membership has grown to its largest in NAHN history; and in 2023, she launched NAHN’s first annual Hispanic Health Policy Summit in Washington, DC. As a 2023-2024 Visiting Scholar at Emory School of Nursing, Dr. Nava created a Policy Immersion Program focused on mentoring students with an interest in Latino health policy. The program exposed nursing students to educational content on leadership development, advocacy skill building and quality of care frameworks and measurement. Dr. Nava was recognized by Modern Healthcare as a 2023 Top Emerging Leader and Diverse Leader to Watch. Previously, she was the Chief Nurse of Quality at the Edward Hines Jr. VA Hospital. Dr. Nava earned her MPA from Harvard University, a PhD from the University of Massachusetts Boston, an MSN from the University of Pennsylvania, and a BSN from Saint Francis Medical Center College of Nursing.
