Melanie A. Prince, is President of Case Management Society of America (CMSA) and Owner, Care Associates Consulting.

A retired military Colonel, Melanie developed programs to eliminate interpersonal violence, wrote policy for sexual assault survivor care and curriculum for prevention of suicide. She worked with Congress to resource programs that provide clinicians and preventionists who delivered trauma-informed care to victims of violence.

Melanie is a certified case manager and medical-surgical nurse with over 27 years of progressive leadership and diverse clinical expertise in emergency, disaster management and ambulatory care. Her confidence in the principles case management led to the Air Force’s first independent Nurse Managed Clinic staffed exclusively by nurses, where patient outcomes were game-changers for population health.

Active in professional organizations, Melanie has been elected to local and national leadership positions in CMSA. She founded the DOD/Veterans Affairs Day, a forum for case managers from diverse settings to collaborate on care of wounded warriors and complex clients.

Melanie penned case management editorials, policy, and training in various publications for both military and civilian audiences. A distinguished leader and mentor in her profession, she won numerous awards including the National Case Manager of the Year and various military decorations, including Defense Meritorious and Legion of Medal.

Melanie earned a Master’s Degree in Military Strategic Studies from Air University, Montgomery Alabama, Master’s Degree in Nursing from University of Arizona and Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing from University of Louisiana, Lafayette. She taught courses in Health Assessment and Disaster Preparedness at Trinity Washington University.
