Christine Pabico is the director of the Pathway to Excellence Program® at the American Nurses Credentialing Center in Silver Spring, Maryland.
As the global ambassador of Pathway to Excellence, she has introduced the Pathway framework to Chief Nursing Officers, Ministries of Health officers and national leaders in Asia, Australia, Europe, South America, and United Arab Emirates as a way to transform medically-driven healthcare structures to one that empowers and gives nurses a voice. She drove the addition of the Well-being Standard to the Pathway framework to require organizations to implement strategies to proactively reduce nurse burnout, safeguard clinician well-being, and foster resilience. Her passion for creating positive practice environments extended to her doctoral work where she studied the relationships among nurse manager competency, the nursing practice environment, and frontline nurses’ intent to stay.
Dr. Pabico has disseminated the impact of positive practice environments through her publications and presentations (regional, national, and in 16 countries outside of the United States). Additionally, she serves on the Editorial Advisory Board for the American Nurse journal.
Dr. Pabico received her BSN and MSN from George Mason University, and her PhD from Kansas University Medical Center.
