Mary Beth Kingston is currently the system Chief Nursing Officer for Advocate Aurora Health, a role she assumed following the merger of Advocate Health and Aurora Health Care. Dr. Kingston has also served as a system Chief Nursing officer at Advocate Aurora Health in Milwaukee and Einstein Healthcare Network in Philadelphia.

Serving in the system Chief Nursing role in 3 health systems, of progressively larger scope, she has instituted strong shared governance models, incorporated diversity into all programs and processes, and collaborated with others to create healthy work environments. Her work has focused across the continuum, incorporating inpatient, ambulatory and post-acute practice settings. Dr. Kingston has presented and published on several clinical and administrative topics, including workforce safety, nurse leader’s role in care coordination, and interprofessional practice. She currently serves on the board of the Milwaukee Urban League and was recently elected to the American Hospital Association’s Board of Trustees (2021-2023). Dr. Kingston was selected for the Robert Wood Johnson Executive Nurse Fellowship program (2009-2012) and is a 2007 recipient of the Pennsylvania Nightingale Award for Nursing Administration. She was elected to the board of the American Organization of Nurse Executives (now the American Organization for Nursing Leadership) in 2014 and served as President in 2019.
Dr Kingston earned a bachelor’s degree in nursing at West Chester University, a master’s degree in nursing at the University of Pennsylvania and PhD in health policy at the University of Sciences in Philadelphia.
