Erin Hartnett is a Senior Research Scientist and Program Director of the Oral Health Nursing Education and Practice Program at New York University Rory Meyers College of Nursing, New York, New York.

Dr. Hartnett leads a national initiative designed to advance integration of oral health education and practice for primary care practitioners through faculty development, curriculum integration, and the development of best practices in clinical settings. She consults with and provides technical assistance to colleges and universities, nationally and internationally, who are developing interprofessional oral health education programs.

Dr. Hartnett is a certified pediatric nurse practitioner with extensive clinical experience in pediatric neuro-oncology where she developed a Long-Term Follow-Up Program, a pediatric oncology dental program, and imported the first Cuban manufactured drug to the US.

Dr. Hartnett work is recognized internationally. She was chosen as a member of the first Oncology Nursing Delegation to Cuba and presented to the Havana pediatric oncology team (2011). She was appointed an honorary adjunct assistant professor at the University of Western Sydney and invited to give the keynote at the launch of the 2019 Australian Network for Integrated Oral Health.

Dr. Hartnett received the national 2012 DNP Capstone Award from the American Association of Colleges of Nursing, the 2012 New York Times Nurse Innovator Award, the 2012 NYU Medical Center Advanced Practice Award and the Georgetown University 2017 Outstanding Alumni Award, the 2017 Oncology Nursing Society Outstanding Leadership Award and the 2019 American Academy of Nursing Edgerunner Award.
