Laura Fennimore is a Professor in the Acute and Tertiary Care Department at the University of Pittsburgh School of Nursing, in Pittsburgh, PA. She educates and coaches nurse leaders in principles of evidence-based leadership and mentors more than 40 graduate students in a Health Systems Executive Leadership DNP program to innovate nursing practice.

Dr. Laura Fennimore is an accomplished leader and educator with more than 35 years of experience in healthcare management. Prior to her academic role, she had executive responsibilities within a managed care organization as the Director of Clinical Programs and worked with case managers caring for vulnerable populations including children and adults with complex physical and behavioral health care needs as well as pregnant women enrolled in Medicaid, Medicare, and commercial health plans. She held multiple leadership roles in a large, academic medical center including clinical instructor, nurse manager, director of oncology disease management, director of nursing, and the director of organizational development and nursing education/ research.

As President of the Oncology Nursing Society (ONS), she advanced the future of oncology nursing practice through visionary board leadership and implementation of a strategic plan focused on excellence, innovation, and effective advocacy for people with cancer. She influenced legislative actions through education of congressional leaders, health system administrators, academic leaders, and practicing oncology nurses.

Dr. Fennimore received a BSN from West Virginia University, and MSN with a clinical focus in oncology nursing and Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) from the University of Pittsburgh.
