Catherine Cox

In 2016 Catherine Wilson Cox, PhD, RN, CEN, CNE came to the George Washington University (GWU) School of Nursing (in Washington, DC and Ashburn, VA) from the American Association of Colleges of Nursing (AACN) in Washington, DC, where she was Director of Programs from 2012 through 2016. She started her career as a Navy nurse in the ICU at the National Naval Medical Center in Bethesda, MD, and in 2014 retired as a Captain from the U.S. Navy Reserves. She has taught nursing at Marymount University, Georgetown University, and the University of North Carolina at Wilmington. As a Navy Nurse and a Navy spouse, she has lived and traveled not only in the United States but also in Okinawa, Japan, and the Kingdom of Bahrain. Dr. Cox teaches in the Accelerated BSN program and, as a veteran herself, is thrilled to help students enrolled in the Veterans’ BSN initiative at GWU. Her education, research, and policy work is vital to growing the next generation of military and Veteran culturally competent nurses.
