Fan-Hao Chou

Fan-Hao Chou is currently a Professor and Vice President for Student Affairs at Kaohsiung Medical University in Taiwan.

An academic nurse scientist and inventor, Dr. Chou’s energy and commitment have been a driving force in (1) her advancing nursing science in Taiwan, especially in maternal-infant nursing, and (2) in advancing the nursing education there and in the larger Pacific Region. Her research and research collaborations resulted in over 130 publications as author or co-author. Her research in maternal-infant nursing resulted in her development of a care-model and assessment scale for women experiencing nausea and vomiting during pregnancy. That model has been adopted into textbooks and nursing curricula. In addition, she has received patents for innovations to improve oral health care. Dr. Chou’s efforts to advance nursing education not only in Taiwan, but in the Solomon Islands of the Pacific Region. She has provided extensive leadership to advancing nursing education in Taiwan and the Pacific Region through service as President of the Taiwan Association of Nursing Education, co-Founder of the Asian and Pacific Alliance for Nursing Education, and service to the Ministry of Health and Welfare on nursing workforce. In Taiwan, Dr. Chou is editor of a text innovative teaching strategies in nursing, and editor of and author in a key textbook in maternal-newborn nursing.

Dr. Chou completed her BSN at Kaohsiung Medical University in Taiwan and MS at National Taiwan University. She earned her PhD degree from the University of Texas at Austin, School of Nursing.
